A Look Back

It doesn’t seem like that long ago when we were deep into 2012, just beginning to recover from The Great Recession, looking at an extremely busy first quarter of 2013. Of course, waiting for us right around the corner at that time were two important events for us – World of Concrete and The Rental Show. And now we are entering 2014 with The Rental Show and ConExpo – Con/Agg, one of the largest trade shows in the world, staring us right in the face. I find it’s important to reflect on the successes we had as an organization the past year before taking the proverbial bull by the horns to do it all again in 2014.

All in all, 2013 was a great year for our organization. As I reflect, I can’t help but feel overwhelming pride for the direction of our organization, as well as the majority of organizations that Chicago Pneumatic serves. We are so proud to be a small part of the success of our distributors and customers. For 2014, we strive to offer the same high level of service, and continue to exceed expectations in all of the markets that our equipment serves.

Our brand promise is “People. Passion. Performance.” and I could not think of a more fitting way to frame out our year than by hitting on these three areas:

What can we say? We have always believed that Chicago Pneumatic simply has the best people around, and 2013 was no exception. We welcomed a few new members to our team this year that have really hit the ground running and shown incredible initiative.

We brought Gus Armbruster on in early 2013, and threw him into the deep end right away! His first official day with Chicago Pneumatic coincided with the opening day of World of Concrete in Las Vegas. Gus brings a lot of passion to the team, and is fitting into his role as the product manager for handheld hydraulic and pneumatic tools quite nicely. More recently, we have had the pleasure of welcoming Sofie Gielen to the Chicago Pneumatic family. Ms. Gielen has recently made the move from the Brussels, Belgium area to Denver to head up our marketing and communications efforts, and we couldn’t be happier that she has joined our team.

We have also shifted some things around this year to make sure that our customers are getting absolutely the best service and support possible. For example, Eric Massinon, formerly the product manager for portable energy is now supporting our entire organization as our Business Development Manager. Eric’s extensive experience with our product line will be extremely useful as he takes on this new role. Greg Petherbridge, formerly our product manager for compaction and hydraulic attachments, has been promoted to national sales manager for hydraulic attachments – and with good reason, you simply will not find anyone who knows more about these breakers (or is more passionate about them) than Greg.

The bottom line: it’s our people across the organization that makes Chicago Pneumatic so special.

It’s no secret that we are passionate about anything black and red brandishing that iconic CP logo. But not only are we passionate about our products, we are also passionate about getting out there and talking to the end-users of our equipment. One example of when our customers can witness first-hand the level of passion our team brings to the table is at trade shows. World of Concrete and The Rental Show were great examples of how our passion shines through in everything we do. It’s no easy task being on your feet at trade shows for a couple of weeks straight (the big shows were back-to-back this year), but our trade show team had a great couple of shows and did it all with a smile from setup to tear-down.

This is a vital key to our company’s success. When we talk about performance, we talk about the dedication of our team, the high level of support from our distribution network, and the knowledge and experience that all of our people bring to the table. We are also talking about the performance of our products. We had some brand new products hit the shelves this year, that carry through that same trusted level of CP performance that our customers have come to know and love.

This year, we have introduced new products to the North American market across all of our product lines:

  • In portable energy, we saw the CPS275, CPG150, and CPS185JD take off in terms of popularity.
  • In our rig-mounted line, the beefy RX 30 and RX 38 rig-mounted breakers busted into the marketplace in early 2013.
  • Our handheld line saw the introduction of the redesigned 60 and 90 pound breakers in the CP1260 and CP1290.
  • Last but not least, CP compaction is adding a whole new dimension to the line with the introduction of ride-on rollers. The AR90G, AR100, AR120, and SR130D are the newest members of the family, but are already making a huge splash in the industry.
