Q1 Trade Shows Point to a Strong 2014
You can finally take a deep breath – tradeshow season is in our rearview mirror as we continue to drive through 2014. As we head into the second quarter, all of us here at Chicago Pneumatic can be proud of a great showing at two impactful trade shows in the first quarter of 2014; The Rental Show in Orlando and ConExpo-Con/Agg in Las Vegas.
Let’s start with The Rental Show. As the largest and longest-running tradeshow exclusive to the rental market, we were proud to be among the exhibitors. Our Rental Show street team went above and beyond, selling product right off the trade show floor. In fact, as quick as our sales force could quote orders, our very own Kim Hudak was inputting the orders into the system.
We say it time and time again, but it truly is our people who make shows like this incredibly successful. From our marketing communications coordinator extraordinaire, Erin Crowe, who was responsible for booth setup and media appointments to the extremely knowledgeable sales managers and product managers out there talking about the features and benefits of CP equipment – congratulations on a job well done. This is also a great opportunity to thank our rep groups for their support during the show.
Apart from a truly successful show, we also capitalized on having our sales force all in one place to hold a training session on our brand new concrete product line. Philippe Livernette, the brains and brawn behind the innovative concrete line, walked our team through the specifics of the complete line of concrete vibrators, screeds, trowels, and saws. Thanks to Philippe’s time and this comprehensive training session, our sales force, now armed with a wealth of information can, in turn, better serve our dealers and end-users.
Also in conjunction with The Rental Show, we held our annual sales awards, and gave a well deserved “pat on the back” to our sales team and rep groups. These folks believe in and stand behind CP products, and are also the people on the “front lines” of getting our quality equipment in dealerships and ultimately in the hands of end-users. A special congratulations goes out to Derek B. Miller, our regional sales manager of the year.
On to the Big Show. ConExpo–Con/Agg is one of the largest trade shows in the world in any industry, and the 2014 show did not disappoint. Over 125,000 attendees flocked to the Las Vegas Convention Center to take part in this event that is so big, it only happens once every three years. Nestled right into a high-traffic area in the heart of Central Hall, the CP booth really stood out. A primarily black booth accented by our red and black equipment was visually appealing, and again, our knowledgeable product managers and sales team were on staff to talk about why Chicago Pneumatic equipment is hands-down the best option out there.
As an organization, I can confidently say that we were incredibly pleased with the turnout and the number of qualified leads generated from the show. It wasn’t uncommon to look up and see customers and potential customers crammed in shoulder to shoulder just to get a glimpse of our new equipment. That being said, a huge star of the show in terms of product this year was our brand new line of ride on rollers – in fact, ConExpo was the first time one of our new rollers had been showcased. Also generating a lot of interest was our all-new concrete line (specifically trowels!), and our gasoline-powered breaker, the Red Hawk Road.
As we look back, I can say that I have never been more proud of the Chicago Pneumatic team. We had a great showing at two incredibly important trade shows, and now, we shift focus – all eyes are on the road ahead for us. If the success of the two first-quarter trade shows is any indication of how 2014 is going to pan out for CP, I think that it’s safe to say that you can expect some great things from us this year.
